Common Enquiries

Arrive well-rested, hydrated, and nourished. Avoid alcohol prior to your session, and wear comfortable clothing suited to your tattoo placement. Bringing visual references helps us refine your idea into a piece that’s uniquely yours.

Booking availability varies by artist and demand. Most sessions are scheduled several days to a few weeks in advance, with larger or custom pieces requiring additional lead time.

Select artists specialize in cover-ups and reworks. Each piece is approached with care, considering the existing tattoo’s depth, tone, and placement. A consultation is required to determine the best outcome.

Custom rates are determined by the scale, detail, placement, and complexity of the design. Depending on the piece, pricing may be hourly or provided as a fixed quote following consultation.

Bio

Jade Barbie is a Singapore-based tattoo artist working in fine-line, neo-traditional, and illustrative styles. She has been tattooing professionally since 2017, apprenticing under a European artist before establishing her own chair in 2019.

Her work draws from botanical illustration, vintage anatomical prints, and East Asian decorative arts — translated into skin with a precision that is immediately recognisable. Collectors describe her line quality as architectural: every stroke placed with intent, no filler, no noise.

She accepts a limited number of new clients per quarter. The waitlist is managed by enquiry only — no public flash drops, no walk-ins. Existing clients receive early access to open books via the mailing list.

Jade is represented in private collections across Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, and London. Editorial features include Broadsheet, Vogue Singapore, and Tattoodo (2022–2024).

Studio Practice

Single-use needles and ink caps every session; barrier film over chair, machine cable, and lamp arm. All reusable equipment is tray-autoclaved and logged. Spore tests run weekly and are posted in the studio.

Ink suppliers: World Famous (vegan, REACH-compliant) for black & grey; Eternal for neo-traditional palette work. All inks are batch-tracked and a card is left in your file in case of allergic reaction.

Photography is permitted with consent and never includes faces unless explicitly cleared. You will receive a healed photograph at 90 days, sent privately, regardless of whether the piece is shared publicly.

Sessions run a maximum of four hours. Longer work is split across multiple visits — this is non-negotiable and reflects Jade's commitment to quality outcomes and client comfort.

Aftercare

You will leave with a second-skin bandage applied. Keep it on for 24–72 hours. If the bandage fills with plasma or ink, remove it at the lower end of that range. Peel from a corner under warm water.

After removal: wash twice daily with unscented liquid soap (Dove Sensitive or equivalent). Pat dry. Apply a rice-grain amount of unscented moisturiser — Lubriderm, Aveeno Unscented, or plain Vaseline. Do not over-moisturise.

No sun, no ocean, no pool, no gym (excessive sweat) for two weeks minimum. Do not pick or scratch peeling skin. If you lose a flake of colour, do not panic — touch-ups are included within 12 weeks of the session date.

Long-term: SPF 50 on all exposed tattoos, always. This is the single most effective thing you can do to preserve your investment.

Frequently Asked

Does it hurt?Yes. Placement matters more than individual pain tolerance. Ribs, sternum, inner arm, and feet are reliably difficult. Outer arm, thigh, and calf are reliably manageable. Jade will talk you through it.

How far in advance do books open?Typically six to ten weeks ahead. Jade does not maintain a permanent waitlist — enquiries are reviewed per open-book cycle only.

Can I bring a friend? One support person is welcome in the studio, seated. No additional guests. The space is kept quiet during work.

Do you do cover-ups?Selectively. Send a clear photograph of the existing tattoo with your enquiry. Jade will advise on feasibility before accepting a deposit.
